Reinheitsgebot 500 Year Anniversary Party
April 23, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm
It’s not every day that we get the opportunity to celebrate a 500 year anniversary of something so important with relevance to bier, so we are gonna take this one and have some fun!
The Reinheitsgebot, or “German Bier Purity Law of 1516” that states only water, barley, hops, and yeast can be used in the making bier turns 500 years old this April 23rd. To commemorate this occasion we are gonna open up the Mississippi Market place for a massive biergarten, pour some special biers that were released for the occasion, roast a whole pig, and have traditional German music playing all day.
For the bier, we will be featuring Weihenstephaner 1516, Andechs Bergbock Hell, and Radeberger Zwickl periodically all month long and will be pouring all 3 on the 23rd.
As for the food, Chef Graham Chaney of Stammtisch will be roasting a 125lb whole pig on the spit that will be served with traditional side dishes. There will be enough for appoximately 75 people, so be sure to be there on time to purchase a ticket.
Happy Hans’ German Band will be playing all afternoon and we will be dressed up in our lederhosen and dirndls, so dress up and join the party!
