Mason Bee Class

April 2, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Join The Side Yard Farm and intructor Jen Davis for a free workshop on mason bees. Mason bees are very effective pollinators. Just two or three females can pollinate a mature apple tree! Mason bees will also work in cool or rainy weather when honeybees are more likely to take the day off. Pollinators serve an important role in our local food web, we need them! In this hands-on workshop, you will learn about basic bee-keeping, the life of mason bees, how to construct mason bee habitats, and what to plant for the little pollinators 🙂 Please email thesideyardpdx@gmail.com to RSVP

Jen Davis has raised Mason bees for nearly twenty years, and teaches classes about these native pollinators throughout the NW. She supplies a number of NW farms with these magnificent little pollinators. With the help of bees, she grows 16 kinds of fruits and many of her family’s veggies on her urban lot.
Jen founded Bee Friendly Portland, an organization which works at a neighborhood level to educate folks how to protect and sustain our threatened pollinators. Find at more at Bee Friendly Portland on FB.
Jen also currently serves as a member of the board of KBOO Community Radio. 90.7 FM/ KBOO.FM
