Better Bites: Grains, Glorious Grains

An evening to spark your thoughts and ignite your taste buds: sound appetizing? OMSI is offering Better Bites, a series of seasonal, health-centered cooking demonstrations by local chefs addressing the latest culinary topics and trends.
Some popular diet books say you should ditch wheat or gluten to shed pounds. But the USDA recommends eating grains daily, and at least half of those should be whole grains. Unless you have celiac disease, gluten intolerance, or another reason to cut back, you don’t want to miss out on the health benefits of whole grains.

Lauren Chandler, owner of Lauren Chandler Cooks, teaches people how to turn the nutritional recommendations of their health care providers into tasty tangible results. Lauren is an adjunct faculty member at the National College of Natural Medicine, where she teaches culinary classes to future nutritionists and naturopathic doctors.
